Mr. Popuri Ankineedu was awarded with 'Great Son Of The Soil' award for "Research & Development of Sponge Iron for Outstanding Services, Achievements & Contribution" on 24th December 2006 by Honorable Governor of Andhra Pradesh State in the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of All India Conference of Intellectuals.
